A Fleetwood solar upgrade
Fleetwood doesn't publish a solar-ready wattage for the roof. Here's how to plan the upgrade from your own manual and measurements.
Bounder solar starter kit
12 V 300Ah lithium
2019 Bounder, gas
Fleetwood doesn’t publish a solar-ready wattage for the Bounder roof. That surprises people, but it means the plan has to start with your own coach, not a number off a forum.
Get the right manual first
Fleetwood keeps its owner’s manuals on its own site. The manuals hub links straight to them by model and year: Bounder, Discovery, Southwind, Flair, Pace Arrow, Frontier, Jamboree, Tioga, and more. Nothing is copied onto this site. The 2019 Bounder gas manual (part L90-0300-68) is the one these guides quote.
What the 2019 manual says about power
The house electrical chapter covers shore power, the generator, the converter, and two battery banks: chassis and house. It warns that the coach electronics are voltage sensitive, and that modifications can void the warranty. Read that page before you add anything to the roof.
The upgrade path
- Find your year and model in the manuals hub, then open the manual on Fleetwood’s site.
- Measure the roof and write down what you run each day.
- Put those numbers into the solar planner.
- Check the parts list against your converter’s charging profile.
The planner only links products that were already on the Megawatt calculators. The Bounder solar starter in the gear kits pairs a 400 W pack with a 12-volt 300Ah battery. It’s a planning bundle, not a Fleetwood factory option.
Who to call
CCRV (Cross Country RV Solar) is the installer on James’s partners list, at 989-464-3314. The old partners page used the email subject “Megawatt 10% Off Labor,” so mention it and confirm the offer with them.
Appliance manuals
Manuals for the fridge, water heater, slides, and generator stay with the companies that make them. The hub links Dometic, Norcold, Lippert, Suburban, and Cummins (for Onan generators).
